Natalie’s Wedding Invitations: Round 1

My best friend is getting married, and she asked me to make her wedding invitations for her. She and her husband are of two different cultures, she’s American and he’s Mexican. Both of their families wanted to observe their own wedding ceremonies, so she is having two wedding ceremonies. The first is the Catholic Nuptial and Mass, and the second is a traditional Hispanic wedding.

As everybody knows, when you first start planning your wedding nothing is set into stone. This is the first design that I had created for her and her fiance. She had first imagined her wedding to be filled with a rainbow of colors with each of her bridesmaids wearing a color of the same design but a different color. She wanted her invitations to reflect the bright bold colors that were going to be in the Hispanic wedding ceremony and the reception.

When we first talked, we decided to keep the invitations simple, but with all of the information needed for both weddings and the reception. So the wedding invitation is a 5 inch x 7 inch card with corner embellishments. Each corner is a color that would coordinate with each color that the bridesmaids would be wearing.

However, as plans change and new ideas emerge, the bride and groom decided to go a different direction. I was happy to accommodate the last minute change (two months before invites were to be mailed). More to come after their big day!

Hindu Wedding Invitations

My husband and I got married in June of 2009. The day is somewhat unclear. Depending on which side of the family you are on, it can either be June fifth or June sixth. The exciting part about our wedding is that we had two weddings! June fifth was when we had our Hindu ceremony, and June sixth was our Christian ceremony and reception. We knew from the beginning that we would have to have two weddings, along with two weddings we decided to have three invitation suites. That’s right THREE. Both weddings included our closes friends and family, and we had a reception after the Christian ceremony for everybody else to attend.

Keeping things in order, first up is our Hindu invitation. My husband’s style is very modern and contemporary, so he wanted a very simple and clean design. He also found this beautiful royal blue paper and just fell in love with it. A friend and I spent hours hand stamping each invitation.

While we do call these invitations the “Hindu Invitations,” they also included information for the Christian ceremony and reception for the following day. We had both imagined what our wedding day would look like all of our lives, however our visions were quite different. To keep true with what we had dreamed of, we decided to have two ceremonies. Having three distinctly different invitations would have to be my own eccentricity. Coming soon Christian Wedding Invitations…
